Literary Pumpkin Display

Each student worked hard to create our Junie B. Jones, First Grader (at Last) pumpkin display.
These boys glued on the hair.
Mrs. Tracy traced a hand to be Junie B. ' hand right on a pumpkin.
Assembling the hand onto the sleeve was no easy task.
These girls made sure the final display was just right!
Enjoy your home at CCE for the next week Junie B.!
We hope you can come see Junie B. in our school lobby this week!   We also hope to see you at our school carnival Thursday night Oct 20!

How do scientists use thermometers to learn about our world?

Our little scientists learned how to read and record the temperature shown on a thermometer.
We measured and compared the temperatures of...
1.  Indoor air
2.  Projector fan
3. Refrigerator
4.  Freezer
5.  Outdoor air

Skills Games

The R is a very bossy letter. It tells the vowels to say a different sound.
Students played for in a row with a partner.
In order to color a circle, a student had to read a word correctly to his or her partner.
Can your child read these words quickly to you at home?  As readers, our students cannot get far if they ignore the boss r!

Partner Reading

Partners read together… Partners share ideas together… Partners grow ideas together.
Partners help each other solve hard words.
Partners don't tell hard words… They help each other solve hard words. They give reminders!

Scientists Ask Questions

Scientists have lots of questions!   What will happen when a deflated balloon filled with  3 tbs. baking soda is dumped in to a container half full of vinegar?  Scientists come up with experiments to test these questions.
How are bubbles created? Why does the balloon fill up? What is the balloon filled with?
This is an easy experiment to try with your child using items you may already have in your home....Materials:  empty plastic water bottle, a balloon, vinegar, baking soda.
